Kaiwa Art & Play Space
Kaiwa is an art, sewing, & invention studio for kids in DeBary, FL! The studio was founded by Keara Trimmer in 2015 in Santa Cruz, CA. Over 4 years, Kaiwa welcomed hundreds of students to explore the joy of making together. Keara has a Masters in Art Education from UGA and a Pre-K-12 Teaching Certificate. Keara has taught in many community and school settings for 13 years and counting, beginning with the Greensboro Children's Museum in NC and most recently for 2 years as the Art & STEAM teacher at an elementary school in Sanford, FL. Kaiwa is so excited to welcome the community & learn & create with budding artists, inventors, & makers in Central Florida!
Learn. Create. Inspire.
Kaiwa Art & Play Space was founded out of a desire to inspire creative confidence in children and the love of creating. Kaiwa means "conversation" in Japanese. Kaiwa believes that children learn best when allowed the time and space to dream, share ideas, and experiment in a non-judgmental and nurturing environment. Kaiwa encourages children to work hard and do their best while having fun! Children grow a sense of pride when they try something new and see the results of their work.
Kaiwa is a place, but it is also a state of mind. I let the children know that anything is possible when entering the space. I work as a partner to the children to help them achieve their vision for projects, suggesting materials, asking questions, demonstrating the usage of new tools, and encouraging experimentation.
Let's bring more joy and wonder into the world together!
